An Ode to Our Breasts

She is the face of our manawa.

She carries profound wisdom with her highly sensitive attuned receptors

to download and receive messages.

A beautifully unique duality pair that conjures sexual energy and provides maternal love and nourishment.

She is aligned with the fourth chakra~ the heart chakra of self love~ our emotional centre.

Our breasts

As wāhine, as Māmās, as Kuia,

How vital is it for you to be breast aware to care for your breasts and nipples?

How often is our breasts something we pop on the back burner and simply forget to connect in with?

It’s our innate knowing when we put our own personal and emotional needs on the back burner, we tend to feel and see a response in the energies of our heart chakra show up physically.

Our manawa is known for storing grief, anger, fatigue, holding onto sadness, past relationships.

She carries and repairs our wounds deeply, leaving embedded battle scars endured over lifetimes.

Responding in ways that can invite problems into our breasts, shoulders, hearts, and lungs resulting in dis-ease.

Teaching ourselves and our growing kōhine/young women how important it is to create a tender ritual of time and space to nurture, to touch and to connect in with our breasts.

Massaging our lymph nodes and allowing the blood to flow.

Going braless! In western culture we are taught to wear bras from morning through till night.

Wearing a bra can block the flow of information to and from each other.

Being conscious and mindful of these small practices, we set the stage for our health and wellness.

For our babies and for our mokopuna.
