serenading a river of red

flowing through the valleys

of her thighs

that were once

hidden in a cave

till she is met

with the karanga

of Hineteiwaiwa

lifeblood forth

generating the new

you have now become the portal

the bridge between worlds

you do not fear the cycles of transition

your trust in wisdom is

absolute

your body a ritual

dancing to the drums

of your Grandmothers voices

who are celebrating

their songs

imbued

of sacred tohi rites

for their kotiro

now immersed kohine

returning to Papatūānuku
